Ugotta Regatta Day 1 — Rolling with the Waves

July 24, 2026

Day 1 of Ugotta Regatta was lumpy, bumpy and kept sailors a little bit jumpy.

Wind conditions started at 15 knots and only grew from there, topping at over 20 knots with big lake chop.

In yesterdayโ€™s messy conditions, consistency proved key. Wizard currently leads with 5 points after securing two first place finishes. Katana is right on their heels and sits only one point back. Windquest, Hooligan and Heartbreaker sit in the middle of the pack but are very much still within striking distance. We are excited to have offshore Titan, Hooligan, joining us for the final two events of our season and prove that they are pretty talented racing around buoys as well.

Fjord battled until the very last moment, kept their cool and rounds out the fleet currently racing.

Unfortunately, the yearโ€™s extremely challenging Bayview Mac continues to take a toll on the fleet, even after the race. Mockingbird is still working on repairing their boat after an equipment failure. After working around-the-clock, they are hopeful that they can join us on the water today. We are also deeply saddened to report that Nimbus dismasted while sailing upwind in the final beat of the day. All crew is safe but they will not be able to sail the rest of the weekend.

We have our second and final day of buoy racing today before we join the rest of Ugotta for the Tour of the Bay races on Saturday and Sunday. Racing will begin at 12pm ET today!
